Motability is a national UK charity, which helps disabled people and their families to become mobile. It was set up on the initiative of the Government in 1977, to provide cars and powered wheelchairs to disabled people. The first Motability car was supplied in 1978 and since then over 2 million cars and powered wheelchairs have been provided. The Motability Scheme now has almost 1/2 million people nationwide, making it the leading car scheme for disabled people and the largest fleet of cars in the world.

Motability specialists Darren Cross and Paul Goodison and all our sales teams are on hand to help inform your choice. The specialists have received training from Motability in understanding the needs of disabled customers, as well as full details of how the Scheme works, including how to order and collect your chosen car.

How the Car Scheme works

You can choose from over 300 different Vauxhall, Chevrolet and Saab cars, all in various colours.

How much does it cost?
 If you receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement, getting a new car is easier and more affordable than ever.

Through Motability, you simply turn part or all of your Mobility allowance ( from around £46 a week) into the car of your choice. The other allowances are not affected.

The only other cost to you is fuel.

What do you get?
A variety of schemes can be offered to enable disabled people to become mobile. Motability offers various different schemes to help disabled people obtain a car. These are:

  • A three-year Contract Hire Scheme to lease a new car.
  • A four or five year Hire Purchase Scheme to buy a new car.
  • A two, three, four, or five year Hire Purchase Scheme to buy a used car.

Hire Purchase
Some customers may prefer to buy their own car, in which case our Hire Purchase scheme might be for you. Ask for details.

Out right purchase
If you want to just buy your car Vauxhall offer large discounts for blue badge and mid range mobility customers. We also help with V.A.T exempt cars.
